How's how to make SimplyTweet load much faster. It loads in about 5 seconds (I'm running the upcoming v2.0, which is slightly faster, but it shouldn't be much slower than that) – http://motionobj.com/blog/how-to-make-simplytwe

    Basically:

    1. Go to the Settings Application (outside of SimplyTweet), choose SimplyTweet.
    2. Under “Timelines to Load Automatically”, turn ON Mentions and Direct Messages. (Yes, you got that right, turn them ON).
    3. Start SimplyTweet
    4. Go to the Settings Application again (outside of SimplyTweet), choose SimplyTweet.
    5. Under “Timelines to Load Automatically”, turn OFF Mentions and Direct Messages.
    6. Start SimplyTweet again, and it should load only the Friends timeline.

Here's how to make SimplyTweet load *much* faster. For my iPhone running on 3G, it takes about 5 sec (it's running 2.0 which is faster, but 1.7 should not be much slower than that) – http://motionobj.com/blog/how-to-make-simplytwe….

Thanks for the reply, and I really appreciate the reviews you guys post. My account (@attractiveideas) has around 230 followers, and I think the average twitter account has around 100 followers, so speed differences may not be as drastic as with a large account such as yours. For people with huge followings, speed will certainly be a deciding factor in choosing a mobile app. For my needs, all of the leading twitter clients are pretty similar, but SimplyTweet has some key features that overcome any speed deficiencies as compared to the others. If I suddenly gain 3000+ followers, I may change my mind 😉

I agree! This test was done on iPod touch 2G running OS 3.0 and the
Twitter account used [http://twitter.com/Touch_Reviews] has more than
3500 followers and gets 20+ updates every 3 seconds and 5 mentions
(average) every time we update our status.

This account was used to test all Twitter apps shown in this video. So
the test is fair in that sense and SimplyTweet was used 5 minutes
    before this test.

Out of fairness, I fell the need to mention that I am currently using SimplyTweet 1.7, on a 1G iPod touch w/ the 3.0 OS, and my experience has been that load time depends greatly on the number of updates (tweets, mentions, DMs, etc) that you are dealing with, no matter what client you are running. Personally, unless I don't check for days, simplytweet typically loads somewhere between 5-15 seconds. It's actually my Twitter client of choice right now, having tried a few others.
