Miniclip.com have been providing online Flash games for a long time and now they have started porting some of them to the App Store. The latest of their range to be released into the App Store is Fragger. A simple single player Worms style game where your task is to launch grenades at a range of enemy combatants who, thankfully, do not return fire!
The controls couldn’t be more simple, your soldier stands statically on the left hand side of the screen and using your finger you can direct your aim and the power of your throw. Removing your finger from the touch screen will launch the grenade flying through the air to its, hopefully successful, destination. You have different number of grenades on each level and if you run out of grenades before you have killed all of the enemies it will be game over.
After each attempt the direction and power of the arrow remains where it was previously set so making small adjustments is easily done. Although that’s not to say that the game is easy, on the contrary, some of the later levels need a level of precision that will require multiple attempts to clear the levels.
The levels start pretty easily with the only thing to consider being the direction and power of your grenade. However as you progress through the 40 levels and 3 difficulty settings the obstacles increase. From simple throwing grenades over buildings, into buildings and down fox holes you will also need to find the precision to launch your grenade accurately enough to get it through windows, down drain pipes and through tunnels.
This creates a nice variety of challenges and keeps things interesting as you progress through the nice looking, simple yet effective levels. The sounds effects are relatively sparse but work well. As mentioned previously the game is a single player game only but the online leader boards that are broken down by day, week and month offer a nice challenge for you to go back and attempt to get a higher score on levels that you have previously completed.
At just 99c Fragger is a bargain of a game and provides great value for money. Hopefully Miniclip.com will be converting more of there extensive back catalogue of games over to the App Store soon.
