Apple’s iOS 7 features a completely redesigned look and introduces many new user features. Siri in iOS 7 also got a few notable enhancements which include new commands to switch bluetooth on or off and even control the brightness settings.

Siri’s voice has been the same since its introduction in iPhone 4S. With iOS 7 this is set to change with high quality voice in male and female variations. Apple has also added new languages in it’s “speak selection” settings under accessibility settings.

One notable new addition is Hindi for Indians. With iOS 7 users who prefer to have their iPhone speak selection in Hindi can do so. The voice for Hindi is a female voice and the accent is very natural which was a pleasant surprise.

India is a growing market for Apple where the company has increased its marketing efforts by announcing attractive deals like 0% EMI finance schemes and even smartphone trade ins, where users can trade in their old smartphone can get a price reduction on their new iPhone purchase.

Siri in iOS 7 still doesn’t support Hindi however, addition of speak selection in Hindi could be seen as a move which could soon result in addition of Hindi language to Siri.

Apple’s iOS 7 is slated for a public release sometime around September. The company released the first beta during the WWDC keynote event.

]]> 0 Airtel and Aircel to Offer iPhone 4 in India Mon, 25 Apr 2011 08:04:26 +0000 Read More]]> Bharti Airtel, India’s leading cellular network provider and Aircel recently announced that they will be offering Apple’s iPhone 4 in the country “in the coming months.”

Currently Airtel sells iPhone 3GS 8GB while Indian customers have been waiting for iPhone 4 since it was announced in the U.S during WWDC last year.

Apple has always delayed the release of latest iPhone in India and have shown trends of launching iPhone and iPad in the country almost 9-10 months after the official release in the U.S.

These delays often force people to import contract free iPhones from the U.K by paying a huge premium and then using it with their choice of network. Apple continues to sell locked iPhones in India even though the cost of phone is not subsidized by the network provider.

Even if you are using an iPhone 3GS the fourth gen iPhone is certainly worth upgrading as you can experience the amazing retina display, fast A4 processor, gyroscope for games, better cameras and much more.

Based on previous launches and international pricing we believe iPhone 4 16 GB will be priced at Rs. 35,500 and 32 GB for Rs. 41,500 in India.

The rumor mills are predicting a September launch event for iPhone 5 which will feature the new A5 processor and all new design. So, are you still waiting for iPhone 4?

Airtel is the most popular network provider in India and they might roll out the new 3G services around October so the launch of iPhone 4 around that time might be good way for them to promote new data plans and services.

Bharti Airtel CEO Sanjay Kapoor, during a CII industry conference confirmed that the company will launch the iPhone 4 in India soon:

We are working with Apple. Hopefully, we will launch it in the September-October timeframe,

In India iPhone 3GS 16 GB model  is currently available for Rs 35,500 ($750) and 32GB model for Rs 41,500 ($877) and it is interesting to note that the phone is still sold locked to the network provider and cannot be used with other networks.
