If you’ve watched the video of Gold Keeper for iPhone on YouTube you’ve probably been impressed with the 3D slash and hack graphics of this new iPhone/iPod Touch title. And so you should be, the top-down 3D graphics are beautifully produced, the large demon that you control wanders around the cave hacking and and slashing gloriously. Blood and gore rips out of your prey as your fists beat down on them or, as the game progresses, your hammer smashes down on them and then your iPhone/iPod Touch screen smashes with the impact of their little bones cracking against it.
Gold Keeper is a small but dynamic and funny game. Here you can find cynical humor as well as non-stop gameplay and perfect 3D-graphics. This game is a perfect time-killer for the small sessions!
However, this game is so limited you better like it’s style a lot because that’s all there is too it.
The game see’s you as the demon of the cave and your task is to protect the cave’s treasure which consists of a large pile of gold located in the center of the cave. As the game progresses greedy local villages wander into the cave and it’s your job to do whatever it takes to prevent them from walking away with your gold. Move your demon around the cave via a virtual D-pad in the bottom left corner of the screen and it executes well, your character moves fluidly and it’s easy to change direction even in the middle of a battle.
Battling the onslaught of marauding villages is completed via the action button in the bottom right of the screen and whether you are using your fists, hammer or the hatchet it’s simply a case of tapping the action button to bring down your wrath on all that stand before you. You’re fight isn’t just against defenseless villagers though as in addition to stopping the villagers from stealing your gold you will also have to defend yourself from a growing number of armed attackers and your health and energy can quickly be depleted if you fail to do so.
While the game-play is simple and works well, let the villagers escape with your gold or lose all your energy and it’s game over, it’s just too one dimensional. There’s only a single cave to defend with no scope of opening later levels and while highscores can be both local and uploaded to on online scoreboard the limited scope of the game means that there is simply no replay value.
The game has a lot of potential but until it’s realized in a future release this is one demon that I’ll be keeping locked away.

Gold Keeper For iPhone: Gameplay Video
]]> https://touchreviews.net/gold-keeper-review-iphone-game/feed/ 11THE GAME OF LIFE Classic Edition [rating: 4.5/5]
There are some games that define a childhood and for me it was Game of Life. I’m sure it wasn’t the first board game our family owned but it was the first one that I can remember sitting round the table as a family and playing for a good couple of hours and so it was with great anticipation that I downloaded the iPhone version of this classic board game to put it through its paces.
Stay single or say I do. Retire rich or lose it all. Anything can happen in THE GAME OF LIFE!
THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS IN THE GAME OF LIFE! Play it safe and go to college, get married and start a family. Live on the edge and indulge yourself in lavish luxuries and high-stake investments. Watch your destiny unfold with every spin of LIFE’S wheel! Navigate through a beautiful 3D environment of winding roads and lush landscapes.
For those of you who haven’t played this game the aim is this, the board represents life and as you progress around it you have to make decisions that impact your life, and more importantly your earning power. From college and careers, investments and property to marriage, children and family all the main ingredients of life are here. If you have played the game before then you’ll be pleased to know that not only has the game not changed but it is also perfectly recreated in this form too.
The board and pieces look wonderful in their 3D graphic form and even more importantly the spinner not only looks like it does in the game but you also get to spin it as you do in the real game. The spinner also makes the same clicking sounds as it does in real life and the other incidental sounds and background music fit in well too.
Spinning the spinner controls how many spaces you move around the board and as you do you’ll land on squares that make life changing decisions for you like the birth of a child or purchasing a rare piece of art. Your playing piece is a car and as it drives around the board you will also reach decision making squares where you will need to take decisions such as whether you want to go to college or head straight into the world or work. Each decision you make will have there pro’s and con’s which can impact your money making potential and as the winner of the game is the one with the most money at the end you must choose wisely.
The game can be played alone against 1-3 computer controlled characters or up to four people can play on a single iPhone/iPod Touch using the pass and play method and while playing on your own is good, playing the multi-player version makes things much more fun and adds an extra degree of playability to the game.
This is the fifth board game conversion from EA with Scrabble, Monopoly, Yahtzee and Trivial Pursuit having already been converted before, if you liked any of those or if you especially like the Game of Life board game then this is definitely $5 well spent. The great thing about Game of Life is that it’s a game for the whole family and would be perfect for those long car journeys where the family needs to be entertained.
Game of Life, a classic conversion of a classic board game.

]]> https://touchreviews.net/game-of-life-iphone-review/feed/ 3This game compiles over 100 alphanumeric puzzles for your enjoyment at any time, any place. Not sure what an alphanumeric puzzle is? Think of it as extreme Hangman or Jumble.
Ditzzle is a puzzle game and that one puzzle is a letter equation where you need to guess the words in a sentence where you are only given the initials and some numbers such as “365 D in a Y”. I won’t give you the answer as that’s the first puzzle in the game but all 100 puzzles in this game take exactly the same form. All you need to do is fill in the missing words and you are good to go.
After getting the correct answer you are taken to the next puzzle where as if you get the answer wrong the words are highlighted for you, green for any right words and red for the wrong ones. This makes it pretty easy guess even if you don’t know the answers. There is no limit to how many guesses you can make, no time limit to how long you take and with the previously mentioned help thrown in completing this game is not going to take you too long.
Everything is done well, the puzzles are displayed in a chalkboard style, controls are simple and the background music is offensive, however Ditzzle is a one trick pony, it does that trick well but if you want a little more bang for your buck you may need to look elsewhere especially considering that once you’ve played the game once there is zero replay value.

Key Features:
– 4 Different Rhythm Action Game Modes: Story Mode, DJ Mode, Crazy Mode, Free Play Mode!
– Immerse Story line with 10 unique stages each with synchronized music and game play!
– 4 Customized boss stages with unique music and individualized attacks!
The adorable Tuneys bounce into aerobatic action as you tap along according to the rhythmic music.
Full screen touch controls immerses you in a fully interactive adventure.
Fun for all ages with easy to learn controls
Various types of beats from indigenous music to electric piano music
I’ve played many types of rhythm games over the years on all kinds of platforms and the latest one is World of Tunes which is like a cross between Bubble Bobble and Tap Tap Revenge.
Tuneys are your friends in this world and as they dance along to the musical beat your aim is to tap on them at the right time to complete each level as you work your way to the end of level big boss. Each level is ranked as is normal with this style of game and this allows you to go back and try to improve on your previously set scores.
To complete each level you must tap each Tuney at the peak of its height as it is launched into the air and as you would expect completing a chain will earn you bonus points. While most of the Tuneys only require a simple tap others require a swipe and some a triple tap. And then there are the bosses!
Some of the boss levels will take you a few attempts until you can beat them but this is no bad thing as the level of the challenge is set just about right, although with the option of Easy, Medium or Hard you can choose whether you want to complete the game in 15 minutes of 15 hours! Each boss requires a different technique to defeat them so ensure that you watch the pre-boss animation so that you stand the best chance of moving on to the next level.
In addition to Story Mode there is also Free Play, DJ Mode and a locked Crazy Mode. Free Play allows you to play any of the unlocked levels for fun, DJ Mode is more of a Tap, Tap clone with the Tuneys all landing on a set line rather than the random style of Story & Free Play modes.
The music is your standard computer game music but it works well and the graphics look wonderful and the game play, graphics and sounds work in perfect harmony. However the music can be a little repetitive at times and the addition of a Juke Box to play the music for pleasure only seems a little wide of the mark.
All that said World of Tunes is a joy to play though once and if the music doesn’t annoy you too much there is also a good amount of replay value in the game.

For years explorers and adventurers have tried to capture just a glimpse of the legendary Bigfoot. Now Bigfoot has been spotted. Can you out-smart Bigfoot and bag him? The task is not easy. If BigFoot makes it to the forest he’s a goner. So place your trapping pillars carefully to block his escape. Your score depends on how quickly you can capture BigFoot. So get going and be the first to Bag Bigfoot.
Bag Bigfoot is a challenging strategy game where you attempt to capture the mythical Bigfoot by dropping stone pillars on a classic strategy game hexagonal map. At first this looks easy, but as you progress to higher levels Bigfoot will learn from his mistakes and there will be less pillars left around from other explorers to trap him. The unique interface allows you to accurately select any hex and place a blocking pillar. Easy to play and yet very challenging to beat, Bag Bigfoot will give you hours and hours of great game play. Bag Bigfoot also features an automatic game save, so you can come back to your game in progress at any time. You can also manually save up to three games as well.
HINT: Some applications on the iPhone/iPod touch can leave the system with a limited amount of memory. To prevent problems you can restart your phone/ipod by powering down and then powering back again.
