On Thursday, the same day Apple released the iOS 6.1 beta to developers, the Cupertino, California based company also released iOS 6.0.1 to users of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 6.0.1 addresses a host of issues with iOS and brings minor bug fixes for all iOS devices.
The update addresses an issue where in some instances, the iPhone’s camera flash would not go off, as well as an issue that prevented the iPhone from connected to a cellular network. The full list of issues that iOS 6.0.1 addresses is below:
- Fixes a bug that prevents iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly over the air.
- Fixes a bug where horizontal lines may be displayed across the keyboard.
- Fixes an issue that could cause camera flash to not go off.
- Improves reliability of iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th generation) when connected to encrypted WPA2 Wi-Fi networks.
- Resolves an issue that prevents iPhone from using the cellular network in some instances.
- Consolidated the Use Cellular Data switch for iTunes Match.
- Fixes a Passcode Lock bug which sometimes allowed access to Passbook pass details from lock screen.
- Fixes a bug affecting Exchange meetings.
According to AppleInsider, rumors about the release of iOS 6.0.1 and iOS 6.1 were noted last month. iOS 6.1 is a larger update and is expected to arrive after the holidays. However, iOS 6.0.1 is available for download now as an OTA (Over-the-air) update under Settings on any iOS device and is also available via iTunes when a device is connected.
Apple has also released an “Updater for iPhone 5” which will run on the iPhone 5 prior to installing 6.0.1 which fixes an issue preventing the device from installing updates. After running Updater, the iPhone 5 can then download and install iOS 6.0.1.

Crap. The update did not fix the wifi issues I am having with my iPad 2 and iPhone 4. In fact I am having more issues now. I am no longer able to tether to my iPhone 4. I am still unable to connect to networks that require passwords. Went to a ‘genius’ and was told with a straight face that he has never heard of anyone having wifi issues after iOS 6 update. He then shifted the blame to the wifi routers in my coffee shops, school and library, but refuses to answer my question which is “why did my iPad and phone work in all these areas the day before I upgraded to iOS 6 but no longer work immediately after the upgrade?”. Pleas don’t insult our intelligence and admit that you released a bad product.
After I updated my phone worked fine, But after some time all the apps (safari, maps etc) were crashing and my battery lost
about 30% in 10 to 15 mins. Anyone else having these problems?
Since installing the patch I’ve had issues with mail. The bottom toolbar that allows you to reply, forward, delete and save is no longer there, meaning I can receive and look at emails but do nothing with them. Any suggestions??
hmm, my toolbar is still there after updating allowing me to reply, maybe theres an option you enabled to hide the toolbar?
Ah.. Rebooting the iPhone seemed to do the trick.. Thanks anyways!!
I just installed the update.. and I too hope it solves the connection issues… some days connection is bad… if I could stand inside my router, I don’t think that would have helped.
At last. Hope it solves connection issues. Network
