As ever, you’ll be collecting a ton of heroes and angels, customising them to match your playstyle, then sending them out to defeat the forces of evil.
There’s a bunch of PvE and PvP modes, like cross-server arena battles, co-op team dungeons, and a variety of mini games.
You can level up and train your heroes and angels to suit any playstyle and further develop them by enhancing their weapons.
You’ll then select your favourite team and choose the right formation for the occasion. Each enemy requires a different tactic so its important to change your approach depending on the battle ahead.
As an MMORPG, League of Angels – Fire Raiders is played with and against thousands of others. The handy live chat lets you speak to fellow players to organise a PvP match or make new friends.
To celebrate the launch of League of Angels – Fire Raiders, GTArcade is hosting in-game events and giveaways. Simply head on over to the official web page for more information or ‘Like’ them on Facebook to have the information brought to you.

]]> https://touchreviews.net/bandai-namco-games-releases-outcast-odyssey-card-battler-dungeon-crawler-elements-worldwide/feed/ 0Normally when a game starts I will attempt to skip through the numerous splash screens which detail the variety of parties involved in the production of the game, (much to their annoyance I’m sure). However, every now and again one splash screen will appear which fills your heart with hope that you are about to embark on gaming greatness.
In my case that splash screen is the one that displays the fact that the game is built using the Unreal Engine. A platform which has introduced us to some of the most rich and rewarding gaming experiences across all major devices has another hit to its armory in Horn.
If you’ve experienced the Unreal world before you know what to expect. Horn for iPhone and iPad is played in a expansive, rich and detailed environment that fools you into believing that you’re not on a handheld device but on a console instead.
This beautiful environment is the backdrop of the story of Horn, a young boy who finds himself in a world where all but a few humans have been turned into giant rock creatures called Golems. Horns task is to return these creatures back into humans.
Unlike some other titles where the environments are so rich that your character has limited interaction with them with Horn you are able to go where you wish, within reason of course, by simply tapping on the screen. This makes movement very easy although not always 100% accurately.
Combat makes up a large part of the game as you attempt to take down the many monstrous creatures. The combat system is similar to the Infinity Blade titles where timing is the key to avoid your enemies attacks and take advantage of their weaknesses. It works impressively well and I took great satisfaction in defeating each on the monstrosities that I came across.
Horn is not just another hack ‘n’ slash game though. For as many battles that you’ll encounter there are as many puzzles to be solved and this balance keeps things interesting and entertaining as you uncover the secrets of the world that you have found yourself in.
Even more depth is added to the game thanks to the various weapons and magic that you get to work with and upgrade as you progress through the game.
The game’s beauty is enhanced by the wonderful voice acting that accompany the story telling parts of the game and the orchestral score provides a wonderful backdrop to this engrossing game.
Zynga is a game company that some people either love or hate and if you are on the hate side of the argument then Horn could be the that changes your mind. For everyone else, just go out and by this game and be ready to lose yourself in a wonderful world of mystery, combat, puzzles and entertainment.
The only problem I’ve had with the game is the fact that even as a universal application there is no ability to sync your progress between multiple devices which would be nice.

In Crust for iPhone and iPad you take charge of a spaceship which has to negotiate the tight and dangerous confines of the caverns to clear them and move through the 9 levels. Only 9 levels is a little disappointing especially for newer gamers that may not fully appreciate the retro styling and game-play. However the 2 multi-player modes certainly extends the reach of the game and adds additional value, more on that later.
The single player mode certainly gets you prepared for the challenges that you will find as it includes a basic tutorial of how to control the ship, fire your selectable weapons and complete the required tasks.
The controls take a little getting used to, a virtual joystick on the left of the screen controls both the direction and speed of your craft while multiple buttons done the left side of the screen enable you to access your weapons. This can be a little tricky, esp. on the iPad in the heat of battle as you will have to move your fingers up and down the full height of the screen which can result in failing to engage the enemy for a vital split second that can render you dead!
You have a choice of ships on each level, each with their own positive and negative aspects including the number of weapons, speed of cooldown and shields and this choice can have a significant effect on the outcome of each level so choose wisely.
While the single player mode provides only limited enjoyment it does prepare you for the multi-player options that can take place online against up to 7 additional players or on a single device in split screen mode where you can enjoy twice the fun on a single device as you play cooperatively through the campaign mode.
The online cross platform multi-player mode certainly promises to offer added value to the game with multiple game types, unfortunately though each time I’ve played the multi-player version of the game there has never been more than 1 other person available in a game which has limited the promise of a massive online multi-player gun-fight.
Crust will certainly appeal to some players who are looking for some retro cave shooting fun but at $2.99 for a universal app with a limited single player mode and only a few players in the online version of the game there are better alternatives out there for everyone.

N.O.V.A. 3 as the name suggests is the third in the the first person shooter series which follows the explosive exploits of Kal Wardin as he fights for no lesser prize than humankind itself. If you haven’t played either of the previous N.O.V.A. that’s not a problem, (although you may go back to them after playing this), as the game stands on its own and the short intro will soon get you up to speed.
As previously mentioned the whole look of N.O.V.A. 3 is completely immersive as the rich, massive, interactive environments are a pleasure to behold. Starting in and around the derelict buildings of San Francisco, through alien spacecraft and an explosive fire and ice wasteland the worlds look incredible.
As we’ve all come to learn though, games require more than just graphics to be a success and N.O.V.A. 3 is more than just eye-candy, in fact it’s one of the closest experiences to having a console in your pocket that I’ve ever played on a mobile device.
The audio helps this with the overall experience too, from powerful gun-shots and explosions to great voice acting and background music the aural experiences is excellent, especially if you listen with headphones.
The action comes fast and furious, right from the start and you will need fast fingers to keep yourself alive. These fast fingers have to be balanced with the amount of ammunition you have as supplies are limited especially if you don’t want to if you don’t want to increase the cost of the game by stumping up more of your hard earned money to upgrade your weapons and abilities.
The downside of the scarce ammunition though is exacerbated by some less than perfect controls. There’s nothing substantially different in N.O.V.A. 3 from other first person shooters but they feel unpolished and the limited customization ensures that we will have to spend quite a while with them before you feel at ease.
Spending time with N.O.V.A. 3 though is something you will want to do though as the rewards are worth it. A compelling, if short, campaign mode is great to play but the addition of not only a local wi-fi multiplayer but also an online version, via Gameloft LIVE, is going to have you hooked for months.
Six different multiplayer game modes as well as weekly tournaments keeps things interesting and as long as you put in the time to learn your skills so that you aren’t re-spawning every 30 seconds the online modes ultimately make N.O.V.A. 3 {$6.99} a very rewarding experience.
All this comes at a price, not the $7 that it’ll cost you in the App Store, that’s a bargain, but the 1.5 GB of storage space that it will take up on your iOS device. You may need to manage some space before installing this monster!
There are games that push the limit of mobile gaming and make other companies step up, N.O.V.A. 3 is one of those games and you don’t want to miss the bandwagon.

iBomber Defense Pacific is a follow up to the highly acclaimed iBomber Defense and provides hours of tower defense style game-play.
The action, as the title suggests, takes place on the Pacific Rim and the levels reflect that region in all their glory, from golden deserts and deep jungles to the city streets the graphics are clear, detailed and strong over 20+ different levels.
If you’ve played a tower defense game before then you are going to be very comfortable in iBDP but for those of you that haven’t there is in game tutorial that takes you through all the basics and it’s not difficult to pick up, although as with all good games there is more to simply knowing enough to cruise through all the levels.
You can do that if you like and even then there you will enjoy the journey but just like achieving 3 stars on all the levels of angry birds the real fun comes in attempting to get the best ranking in each level which in turn rewards you with the cash and honors to do even better in the following rounds.
The controls are simple, drag and drop to place your machine gun, cannon, rockets, flamers and other weapons and tapping on them provides you with the ability to repair, upgrade and sell them. If things aren’t going your way on any level you also get the ability to rewind a wave and try again, however this ability it limited so it has to be used wisely.
I highly recommend playing the game with your headphones on too as the sound of the thundering gunfire over the back-drop of the ambient location noises creates a great atmosphere.
As with all Chillingo titles the game comes integrated with Crystal, their social gaming network which provides multiple achievements and leaderboards for all the levels.
Chillingo continue to churn out quality titles and in iBomber Defense Pacific they continue to do so with a solid, if not ground breaking title. iBDP is a universal game and is available in the App Store now for $2.99.

Pocket Warriors Review: Pocket Warriors for iPhone is a cute game reminiscent of Sonic and Tails. Your characters fight side by side to take on monsters and protect the village.
The game begins with two characters, which I suppose could be considered a boy and a girl. You can name them or just accept the default Gavin and Kelly. You begin by heading to the village to meet the people who can help you, such as traders and blacksmiths. You pick up your first weapons and then head out to battle your first monsters.
Each mission you successfully complete rewards you in coins that you will need to upgrade your weapons so you can take on the next level of monsters. Each monster has a weak spot, which you only uncover once you’ve defeated them. But that information helps you as you progress and move on to battle other monsters.
You have to work as a team during the battles. When one character is taking the brunt of the attack the other needs to step in and protect them in order to defeat the monster. Both characters fight even when your focus is on only one, so switching back and forth gives you a different perspective of the battle.
The graphics are simple and cute and the colors are bright and cheerful. The background music tends toward medieval with some birds, cows, and other ambient noise thrown in. All in all it feels a bit like a renaissance festival, especially when in the village.
This game seems a bit overpriced when compared to others. It’s a solid, basic game, but there’s not much in complexity or that anything special that sets it apart from the rest. Still, it’s a fun game with an easy to use interface. Give it a try and test your teamwork against the monsters.

Spaceship Ion ($.99) is a shoot’em game with a story that unfolds has you progress through the levels. Use your pilot skills to fly the spaceship and shoot the missiles at the alien enemy.
Controlling your ship is easy. You can tilt your device or control with your finger. You are not limited to moving left or right you can also move forward and backwards. There is also no need to worry about tapping any buttons for firing the missiles either as these are launched continuously themselves.
Simply aim the shooting missiles at the aliens and you will destroy them. To kill large alien enemies and the main bosses use the smart missile to target lock the enemy. The whole time you have the alien locked your missile will keep firing until they die.
There are different missiles and lasers to destroy your enemy with. Items like Thor missiles for slow moving enemies, Lance missiles that pierce through the enemy and continue to hit them at the back and a DFF laser which can damage the aliens in seconds. All helpful in the many different situations you will come across.
Every time you destroy the aliens you are left credit tokens to collect. All the credit you build up can be used to buy improved and more powerful weapons. So make sure you pick them up as you go. Along the way you can collect power ups to help your gameplay. These power ups upgrade your weapons and can be upgraded a maximum of 4 times. If you lose a life though it is worth noting you lose 2x of your power ups on your weapons.
When you progress through the game you can unlock up to 12 medals. It will show you on screen when you do. Some of these medals then unlock new weapons to use against your enemy. There are 10 weapons to collect altogether.
Each level has its own theme and own unique bosses to be destroyed. In total there are 22 enemies and 8 bosses. There are also different modes to play normal, hard and very hard. You can unlock more weapons by completing the normal and hard mode.
I found the game very easy to control. I preferred the tap controls rather than tilting as you seemed to be able to get a more accurate control of the space ship. It was fast moving and the game keeps you on your toes with the aliens coming at you from all directions. The big bosses take a bit of beating but it’s not very difficult to win advance levels.
I loved the sound effects and music to the game. It was very suited and unlike most music playing games, it wasn’t annoying to have playing in the background. The graphics are very good and make the whole game experience enjoyable.
Due to the app been featured in New & Noteworthy in several regions Spaceship Ion is currently on offer with a 50% discount.

]]> https://touchreviews.net/spaceship-ion-review-destroy-aliens-save-earth/feed/ 0Zombie Digger is an awesome new game where you defend your home from a slew of zombie monsters. The zombie monsters come in all shapes and sizes and you are strapped with both creative and serious fire power to dispose them. On one side of the screen, your house; on the other side, a hoard of zombie freaks wanting nothing more than to tear your house apart. Like the Under Armor commercial says, “You must protect this house!”
The game controls in Zombie Digger are easy to pick up and fun to use. You have lots of options on how to dispose off the zombies but the control system stays constant regardless of your weapon of choice. The thing that you must remember about the weapons is that they have a timer that you must wait for to reload before you use them again. This adds an extra degree of difficulty. Another control that might be my favorite is the fact that as enemies slip by your holes that you dig or by your arsenal of weapons, you can click on them and flick them back towards where they came from to keep them from your house and give you another opportunity to kill them. Pretty awesome added control if you ask me.
You start with a simple list of weapons at your disposal but as the games goes you can purchase upgrades for each weapon. There are four categories of weapons. You begin with a shovel. To use the shovel, you simply tap a spot on the ground and it digs, the more you tap a spot the deeper the hole goes, you’ll understand soon enough why you need a deep hole. You also begin with a slingshot that you can shoot at the oncoming zombies. This is simple as you click on the zombie you want to shoot. The bomb will quickly become one of your favorites, you use it the same way as you did your slingshot but as you’d imagine, it packs more punch. Finally you have a special weapon. The special weapons are my personal favorite because they are the most creative. You tend to use these special weapons by simply clicking on its icon. The special weapons range from a flying cow that poops on and kills the zombies to a tractor that mows them down. Pretty awesome and very creative! Love the weapons in this game.
Since the monsters come in all shapes and sizes, the difficulty to dispose of them also varies. You will face everything from elephants, bouncing hedgehogs, tank-driving crocodiles, giant zombie snails, and tons of others. All of them do varying damage to your house. A word to the wise, the flying zombies quickly become the biggest problem you face. You have to beware for zombies on skateboards cruising right in and out of the holes you dig as well as enemies on pogo sticks that bounce right through and past your holes, this is where the flick option comes in handy.
This game sports over 40 levels and one of my only complaints is that it’s so fun I wish there were more levels. You have an arsenal of 12 types of weapons at your disposal as well. There are 5 gaming environments that help to change the settings while holding on to that addictive gameplay. There are unique bosses that you face and as with all of the zombies, there are unique ways to kill them all.
The visual presentation of this game is awesome. I really enjoyed all the different zombies, the change in background and all the different weapons and how they work. The weapons actions change according to the upgrade so you aren’t stuck with the same animations every time. The sounds are also pretty awesome as they sound effects are funny and accurate at the same time. The pogo stick sounds were pretty funny. I must say that this game is awesome and the presentation just compliments an already amazingly addictive game.
For 99 cents this game is a must have in my opinion and I still haven’t stopped playing it. You have the added benefit of posting your achievements in the game on Facebook and OpenFeint as well. I really like the fact that they didn’t miss on these social options as they are becoming more and more of an everyday thing. Get this game!

Fly Fu Pro is a highly detailed weapons based beat-em up game that is accompanied by a unique visual scheme. You play as McFly, a fly that is well versed in the art of Fly Fu. Your mission is to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend, Kate Moth, from evil spiders that are holding her captive. Ebony Overseer is your nemesis and you will spend your time trying to get to her to get your girl back.
Fly Fu Pro’s control system varies greatly due to the number of things you can do and the number of different game types. It is close to what some might call a button masher at times but as the game goes on you will have the opportunity to use other weapons. There are ten weapons that you can use, five melee weapons and five projectiles. Of course the basis of Fly Fu is punching and kicking but the other methods are acceptable.
The four different mini-games also play a huge role in how the control system works. For example, one mini-game consists of navigating a feather up and down avoiding obstacles and gathering objects. The mini-games such as this one help break up the button mashing style game play and change the entire game. The weapons that become available throughout the game also make the game much more diverse and increase the amount of fun you can have. There is a currency system in place so that you can purchase these weapons as they become available which is nice because it gives you enough choice. The game provides plenty of opportunity to play it your way within the confines of the story.
The concept is fairly simple to grasp. You want to beat the crap out of all of the bugs that are aiding in the kidnapping of your girlfriend, Kate Moth. Various methods will ensue but the goal remains the same. Much of the time there is a number of bugs that you must beat up to go on to the next scene. The ability to buy new weapons is pretty cool because it allows you to change up the madness with a new method of kicking butt. There are 24 skills that you can utilize as well such as fire breathing, life leeching and turning McFly into stone. The ability to collect Mana to gain other abilities offers yet another way for you to change the way McFly goes about his business. For example by filling up the Fire mana points McFly’s attacks become much more painful and by filling up the Water mana makes McFly’s endurance greater. These are just a few examples of how the game’s different aspects can make this game more and more complex as you go.
The visual and audio presentation of this game are great. I thoroughly enjoyed the unique environment that is created by Magnus Muhr’s “Deadly Fly Art”. The atmosphere is very cool and the music ties into the theme of the game perfectly. At first the thought of it being a Fly Fu game threw me a bit but it is all tied together quite well. The game sports 20+ species of bugs that also changes the visual aspect quite a bit and keeps the enemies you face fresh and fairly new. My favorite part of this game is the attention to detail and its diversity throughout the entirety of the game.
Overall, Fly Fu Pro is a unique game that has numerous changes in its game play. With four mini-game types and a evolving story mode, you rarely find the situations staying the same. There is a common base to much of the action but it usually comes with a unique twist such as a new weapon or ability. Survival mode gives you a chance to get out of the story mode and see how long you can last. For the price of 99 cents you cannot go wrong here.

If you like loads of explosions and plenty of firepower that Super Blast 2 has all of that as it’s a shoot-em-up that challenges you with the cry of ‘none shall pass’ as to progress in the game you need to prevent all of the enemy craft from getting passed you as if you do then it’s game over.
This is a little different from most shoot-em-ups and it does add a little more pressure to the game play which is certainly a good thing.
The graphics look good on the retina display of the iPhone 4 but it is a little too easy to mistake the asteroids in the background as being something you have to destroy. The pumping sound-track helps move things along but louder explosions would be nice as they are often dominated by the music.
There are 3 difficulty levels to choose from with each one causing an increase in the aggressiveness of the enemies attempts to get past you. For some of the enemies that’s all they do, others though will also attempt to destroy your spaceship.
You have 3 lives to work with through the game so even if you don’t let anyone past you the game could still end should your ship be destroyed 3 times. Conversely, it only takes ship getting past you and it’s game over, regardless of the number of lives that you have left.
Controls take advantage of the accelerometer and all that’s required are a tilt to the left or right to move your ship in that direction. It would be nice if there was also the ability to move your ship back and forward to be either more aggressive or more defensive.
Shooting is automatically set to on so a constant stream of bullets, lasers and bombs will be launched from your ship as soon as the game begins to the time you are defeated. As you play through the game different weapon upgrades will float down the screen for you to pick up but these upgrades aren’t permanent and you’ll soon revert back to your standard lasers.
The game is fun for a while and the three difficulty levels certainly add to the challenge but there is limited replay value even when you factor in the 10 achievements and leader boards offered by its Open Feint integration.

While I’ve always enjoyed the occasional tower defense game none has ever gripped to the point of coming back to it again and again, that is until now! I don’t want to give away my conclusions on this game but writing this review is taking me away from playing it and therefore I’m resenting having to write it a little! Well OK maybe I’m over egging things slightly, writing this review is allowing me to put into words how great I think this game is.
In Sentinel 3: Homeworld the basics for a tower defense game are all there, your task is to defend yourself against an alien onslaught of massive proportions with a range of weapons that you can purchase, upgrade and unleash on wave after wave on alien aggressors. While graphics don’t usually make or break such games when they look as detailed and beautiful as they do in Sentinel 3 they certainly add to the game.
This is especially true on the retina display of the iPhone 4 where the graphics sparkle on the screen from the beautiful environments to the sharp animations on the weapons and enemies. All of this can be seen both while zoomed in and zoomed out allowing you to see even more of detail. The menu’s both in game and pre game are sharp to allowing easy navigation to all areas of the game.
There are three game modes to choose from which are Campaign, Endless and Classic. Campaign mode is where you’ll want to start your adventure as not only does it start things slowly for you but also because it’s how you unlock additional levels and your commanders power. There is a storyline to the campaign mode and while it’s interesting it doesn’t get in the way of the game, in fact you could not read the level details and still thoroughly enjoy the game.
As you would expect you start the game with just a few weapons available to you and limited dollars but as you start to wipe out the waves of enemies you’ll soon be able to upgrade your weapons and buy new ones. There are 10 weapons to be unlocked in total from the simple laser and bomb to the more explosive missile and flame throwers and that’s even before you bring in the ‘Sentinel Weapons’ which add a whole new level of offence to your armoury.
The path of the alien waves vary from level to level, sometimes they will appear from a single location while multiple entry points will be used on other maps. Once you’ve reviewed where the onslaught is coming from you’ll be able to start placing you artillery and other weapons. Placement is as simple as dragging and dropping the required weapon onto the map with a green marker showing if you can place it and red if you can’t.
All of this can be done while the aliens begin the attack or you can pause the game allowing you more time to consider you options. I found myself using both at times depending on the ferocity of the attack I was under at he time. There are a great variety of aliens too although you will have to wait a while before you see them all.
They all look appropriately aggressive as they march towards you defences and each one will potentially require a different weapon to destroy it. This ensures that maximum thinking power is required especially as you progress to the later levels. In addition to your air and ground attack your commander can move around the playing area to defend your structures which when all defeated will result in game over.
Between each level you get the opportunity to not only increase the weapons you have in game but also to increase the powers of your commander with the dollars and experience that you’ve earned completing the level. There are 20 levels to play through which will then be available in Endless Mode which is where you can play to compete online with your best scores.
The third mode is Classic Mode which uses a set scenario to challenge you to defend a set number of waves, complete each level to unlock the next of 6 levels. Your scores on Classic Mode will also be uploaded to the online leader boards that are provided by integration with both Open Feint and Apple’s very own Game Center which also provides 47 achievements to complete.
The overall pace and difficulty of the game is just right and I’d recommend Sentinel 3 to both newcomers to the experienced tower defense players. At $3.99 it’s not the cheapest TD game but it’s certainly the best value for money as it provides quality, quantity and options all in one package.

With current hysteria for all things zombie related you would think that all possible avenues have already been explored. Apparently that is not the case though as Zombie Highway for iPhone uses the premise of a car being attacked by zombies leaping onto them as the speed down deserted highway.
As the driver of the said car it’s your task to keep driving as far as you can before your car is overturned by the zombies or you crash into a vehicle that has been left stranded, presumably by another zombie attack.
Your car will automatically accelerate as your start down the highway and you can steer it via the accelerometer by tilting your iPhone or iPod Touch. The highway is pretty desolate with the appearance of dessert disappearing off into the distance on either side of the road. This keeps the graphics pretty simple but also nice and atmospheric giving the whole game an overall feeling of isolation.
A constant stream of zombies line the side of the road and as you speed down it they will leap onto your car and hang onto the side of it. You have two options to dislodge them from your car.
Your first option is to crash your car into the abandoned vehicles located along the road. For most zombies this is very effective and the zombies will be smashed off of your car causing your no further trouble. Some zombies are more resilient though and will require more than being rammed into solid steel.
Luckily you have a range of weapons at your disposal, once they’ve been unlocked of course, to shoot the undead from your moving vehicle. Rather than simply having a single action button that will shoot all the zombies, instead depending on where the zombies land on your car a marker will appear along either the left or right side of the screen.
To shoot the zombie all you have to do is tap or hold the marker for the given zombie and he will be shot. Depending on the type of zombie, there are a variety of them that have a variety of strengths and weaknesses, they will either take a single or multiple shots.
I found the game very satisfying and I often found myself taking just one more go to get further down the highway that I had previously. Just like the famous Yeti range of games the single measure of your success is the distance travelled and this score can be measured against both a global leader board and your Facebook friends.
The game is a little one dimensional but also very satisfying. What I would like to see as well as the range of weapons would be the option to pick from a range of cars with varying strength, speed and power.
When all said and done Zombie Highway is another great addition to the zombie genre and while the fun may be short lived it’d well worth the 99 cent cost.
