Apple recently released all-new versions of iWork apps for Mac and iOS. The updated versions of Pages, Keynote and Numbers feature a complete design overhaul and also introduces some new features. However, as users began to explore the new update many found that some features were removed.

Users reported their concerns on Apple support forums and the started listing the features that had been removed. This isn’t the first time the company has faced strong comments or feedback after a major update. When Apple released a brand new version of Final Cut Pro many users said it was a step back rather than a step forward. But, Apple promised users that they would be restoring popular features in upcoming updates.

This time Apple has responded similarly, by announcing that many user requested features for the iWork apps will be coming in a future update.

The new iWork applications—Pages, Numbers, and Keynote—were released for Mac on October 22nd. These applications were rewritten from the ground up to be fully 64-bit and to support a unified file format between OS X and iOS 7 versions, as well as iWork for iCloud beta.

These apps feature an all-new design with an intelligent format panel and many new features such as easy ways to share documents, Apple-designed styles for objects, interactive charts, new templates, and new animations in Keynote.

In rewriting these applications, some features from iWork ’09 were not available for the initial release. We plan to reintroduce some of these features in the next few releases and will continue to add brand new features on an ongoing basis.

The new version of iWork apps ensure that there is complete compatibility between iOS and Mac version of the apps. This will server users better in the long run as they create files on their iPhone or iPad and the continue to work on it on their Mac without worrying about compatibility or messing up the format.

Some of the most requested features in the new iWork applications according to the threads on Apple support forums have been the ability to customise the toolbar, use AppleScripts and vertical ruler. Apple will re-introduce these features in upcoming updates over a period of six months.

It’s important to note that files created in new iWork apps aren’t compatible with older versions of the software suite. However, you can convert the files created with the new version to run on older iWork apps.

iWork apps are now free for anyone who buys a new Mac or iOS device. The update is free for anyone who previously owned any of the iWork apps.

During Apple’s media event in San Jose this past Tuesday, the company announced a new 13 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Alongside the arrival of the Retina Display, Apple has also eliminated the optical drive and slimmed down the device, also including flash storage instead of a traditional hard drive.

On Wednesday, Apple posted the first television ad for the device, called “Colors” on the company website as well as the company’s YouTube account. The ad was originally shown off during the Apple media event, and showed off some of the apps that can be run on the device, including Mail, Final Cut Pro, Aperture, and iTunes. The ad begins with a hand moving quickly through the apps, and working on different projects. The narrator then reads:

Introducing the new 13″ MacBook Pro.

With the stunning Retina display.

For the pro in all of us.

Apple has begun issuing refunds on it’s Final Cut Pro X software bundle which is currently available in the Mac App Store according to EOSHD.com. Coming close on the heels of reports about the company offering 7 days trial in the Taiwan App Store, Apple is beginning to issue refunds to dissatisfied customers for Final Cut Pro X through the same Per-Request system.

Users of Final Cut Pro who are unhappy with their purchase now have the option to request a full refund on the product. Customers who are complaining to Apple’s Customer Service are receiving emails as follows:

Moving forward, I understand that you are not satisfied with the app “Final Cut Pro”. I can certainly appreciate you would like a refund, and I would be more than happy to help you out with this today. In five to seven business days, a credit of £179.99 should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase.

Please note that this is a one time exception because the iTunes Terms and Conditions state that all sales are final.

A Thread in Apple’s discussion forums, which has been the spotlight of media attention, unveils a number of Final Cut Pro X customers who received refunds from Apple. Apple currently does not operate a solid Return policy on App Store applications and Software bundles, but will honor any formal request for accidental purchases or situations of the like.

Apple has yet to comment or publicly speak about it’s App Store policies in Taiwan as well as any Final Cut Pro X return, although, returns have long been more of a personal interaction between customers and Apple and may remain that way.

Have you purchased Final Cut Pro X? Do you think you will request a refund?
