Word Warrior [rating: 3.5/5]
Word Warrior by Faro Entertainment is a word game with a twist. You are the warrior who must fight the evil forces to restore peace once more in the kingdom. Fight and attack your enemy by finding words from a row of letters. Each word you find gives you the chance to attack your enemy. Watch out though he does fight back!
When you start the game you will see the words at the bottom of your screen and the Word Warrior and his enemy at the top half of the screen. When the level starts you need to find words from the letters provided as quick as you can. Each time you find one it will then attack and take hit points off the enemy. To defeat the enemy you need to get the enemies hit points to zero. The same goes for you though when he hits you.
Your hit points are on the left and the enemies are on the right. In the middle is the Attack Timer and Enemy Counter. When the timer is depleted the enemy attacks. Each level there will be a set number of enemies to defeat and this amount is shown here also. After you have defeated one another will appear.
When you have found a word you simple press the attack button to submit it, if you make a mistake you can press the back button to take a letter away. The game moves very fast though and you have to be able to type very quickly. The words are easier enough to find but I found it quite difficult to type words before he attacked me. When I got to level three I was already struggling a little and having to try over and over.
There are bonus tiles to help you fire, ice, poison and lightening all helping you to defeat your opponent. After each level there is a chance to earn new weapons and armor which help you increase your skills and defense. As you fight your way through the game you will be awarded experience points when you earn enough of these you level up.
On some of the levels you will be set certain tasks, for example all the words must be four letter words. So if you submit a three letter word it will not accept it. To start though you will be able to find any word with three or more letters.
The music is very apt for the scenery of the game and the graphics have a nice retro feel to it. I do feel though that the game is far too hard at the early stages and you are really not given the chance to type. If this could be slightly improved it could become a great addictive game.
- Unique game play
- Nice retro graphics
- Game is far too hard at first.
