Very Alien Productions releases Algebraics for iPhone and iPod touch

Westfield, Indiana – Very Alien Productions today is proud to introduce Algebraics 1.0, their new algebra app for iPhone and iPod touch. Designed specifically to leverage the iPhone interface, Algebraics is a powerful tool to explore and calculate the roots of quadratic or cubic functions, as well as perform prime factorization and determine greatest common divisors and least common multiples.

Perfect for students, professionals, or casual users alike, Algebraics can effortlessly determine real and imaginary roots of quadratic or cubic functions. It then constructs a graph of the function and plots the real roots. The explorer feature graphically demonstrates the impact of varying the coefficients of quadratic or cubic functions. The factorization feature decomposes numbers into their prime factors and determines the greatest common divisor and least common multiple between any two numbers.

Algebraics is a root finder. Provide the coefficients for a quadratic or cubic function and Algebraics calculates the discriminant and the roots, real or imaginary. It will then construct a graph of the function and plot the real roots.

Algebraics is a function explorer. Ever wonder about the purpose of each term in a quadratic or cubic function? With Algebraics, wonder no more! The app’s explorer feature lets a user vary the coefficients and updates a graphic in real-time, demonstrating how each term affects the function.

Algebraics is also a factoring tool. It will decompose an integer into its prime factors. It calculates the greatest common divisor (also known as greatest common factor or greatest common denominator) and least common multiple (also known as lowest common multiple) for any two integers. The app will indicate if a number is prime and if any two numbers are co-prime (having no common factors).

Users can choose the number of digits displayed to the right of the decimal point with proper rounding displayed as needed. The imaginary unit symbol can either be “i” or “j”.

Feature Highlights:
* Finds roots (real or imaginary) for quadratic and cubic equations
* Graphs quadratic and cubic equations
* Graphically demonstrates impact of varying coefficients of quadratic and cubic functions
* Performs prime factorization and determines greatest common divisor and least common multiple between two integers

“The iPhone/iPod touch platform is an incredible tool for enabling both learning and getting tasks done easily,” said Jim Parshall, founder of Very Alien Productions. “We’re excited about the launch of Algebraics, especially with its ability to handle cubic equations.”

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
* Requires iOS 3.1.3 or later (iOS 4.0 Tested)
* 0.5 MB

Pricing and Availability:
Algebraics 1.0 is only $0.99 (USD) and available exclusively through the App Store in the Education category. Review copies are available upon request. Algebraics joins Very Alien’s other apps, Trigonomics, Geometrics, and its most recent release, Base Station.
