Verizon to Give Up To $200 To Recent Android Buyers Moving to iPhone 4

A promotion for the launch of the Verizon iPhone 4 will see the carrier hand out Visa debit cards loaded with up to $200 to customers who have recently purchased an Android device and are looking to make the switch to iOS. Those that bought a phone between November 26th and January 10th are entitled to the Visa cards when they buy the iPhone 4 at its full price before the end of February.

News of this promotion has spawned from details within Verizon’s FAQ for the Apple device, and it seems it’s in place to please Verizon customers who have recently bought Android and BlackBerry devices with the understanding that they couldn’t get an iPhone.

The question in Verizon’s FAQ reads:

I just purchased a new smartphone during the holiday season, but if I knew that the iPhone 4 was going to be available soon I would have waited. What are my options now?

Electronista explains that Verizon have been particularly coy regarding Apple’s sought-after smartphone this fall, with the interest of protecting sales of other smartphones while its deal with Apple was finalized. And that the company has always been a supporter of the Android OS until signs recently began emerging that it was dissatisfied with the fast decline in sales of Google devices.
