Go From Search For Good Sushi on Your iPad, To Making Your Own
Teach Me Sushi has been a successful application for teaching people the art of sushi on the iPhone and it’s even better on the iPad. The application has an awesome GUI that provides videos and even step by step instructions on how to make sushi. There are more than an hour and a half of videos that are dedicated to teaching you how to make sushi and even how to make specific rolls. To top off the application there are tools like a rice cooking timer, a calculator to help you with how much you need and what it will cost you and a Where to Buy option as well. From top to bottom this app takes it upon itself to have you making your own sushi in no time.
You follow an extremely charismatic sushi chef named Jake. He has a very inviting personality and at times borders on over the top but as I went through the application I found his charisma to be a pick me up and even funny at times. Jake certainly keeps the sushi making fun and informative at the same time. You not only see the ingredients needed to make a particular roll but have video instructions that are incredibly easy to follow. The instructions include everything from building the sushi to the rolling process and doesn’t leave you wondering about a single step. If you are like me, I watched the steps first in the video and then referred to the step by step guide for the actual process. These two options play well with one another and make the process a cinch.
The app is very simple and makes it easy to get the information you need. As mentioned, there are video and step by step guides with a tutorial on how to organize your equipment and finally a more section that allows you to: Tell A Friend, Send Feedback, Facebook, Follow Them On Twitter and of course the credits. These features come together to make a very simple app that does an amazing job of teaching you how to make sushi. The thought never occurred to me and I always figured it was too difficult for someone like myself but when you watch the videos they provide the comfort needed to take on the task. The chef, Jake, does a great job of explaining what he is doing and his technique so you don’t mess up your sushi and that is awesome. The main reason I don’t try and cook some things is due to the difficulty and this app removes all reservations when it comes to sushi.
The presentation of this app is awesome. I am a sushi lover so it was easy to make the sushi look good to me but the pictures are so high quality that even my sushi hating friends wanted me to make some. The videos are extremely high quality and look great on the iPad 2. I never had a problem with buffering and they seemed to load up very quickly on my iPad. I can see this app having a sever advantage over the iPhone app due to its use of the large iPad screen. It makes the app feel more like a cook book or a cooking channel right there in your hand. I highly recommend this app if you are like sushi and want to save a little cash and perhaps impress your friends with your newfound skill.
