‘Steve Jobs’ Becomes Amazon’s #1 Best Selling Book of 2011
Steve Jobs, the genius behind Apple’s iPhone, iPod and iPad passed away more than two months ago. Soon after his death, his official biography, titled Steve Jobs by Walter Isaccson was released. The book was available through many book stores and publishers, including Apple’s own iBooks platform.
However, one of the biggest book sellers, Amazon, originally offered Pre-Order of the book and experienced major sales of the biography in the weeks following Job’s death. On Tuesday, it was reported that Steve Jobs is now the Amazon’s #1 best selling book of 2011.
That is a remarkable achievement, given the fact that the book was not released until October, only a few months before the year’s end. Steve Jobs opened in Amazon at #13, but quickly rose to #2 in November and eventually #1 as Amazon collected over two months of sales. The biography has even gained traction for a movie deal, with rights owned by Sony Pictures. The movie is also rumored to be directed by Aaron Sorkin, director of The Social Network.
