Space Track is a racing game in which you steer a space ship on various tracks in various regions of the space. The goal of the race is to finish it as quickly as possible without crashing or running out of fuel. Earning medals will unlock new worlds with new tracks.

While not as exciting as the graphics appear to be, Space Track offers lots of challenging gameplay. Your craft is accelerometer controlled so you tip your iPhone back and forth to control your speed and tilt to control its direction, tapping the screen will also cause your craft to jump. The controls are very responsive however your craft does seem a little static regardless of what you’re doing, mysteriously moving left to right perfectly locked parallel to the race surface, some kind of thruster effect here would have been nice.

My major gripe with this game is balancing particularly with fuel, as you race your fuel gauge goes down and dotted around the track are bright yellow charge pads which have to race over to top up your fuel but if you miss one or two, easily done on some of the more complex levels, your game is effectively over which I find pretty harsh.

Everything is pleasantly soundtracked with a handful of techno songs and sound effects nicely fitting with engine noises and crash effects which sadly you’ll soon get tired of hearing as you crash over and over again.

The real star of this game are the levels, providing lots of challenges, growing in complexity as you progress through each game world, while simple blocks with alternating heights and obstacles promote exploration, as you become more skilled at handling your craft and with 54 tracks split between 6 worlds you won’t find yourself completing this any time soon.
