The Simpsons – Tapped Out

Homer Simpson has never been one to turn his back on a freebie and now he’s giving back with ‘The Simpsons – Tapped Out’, EA’s entry into the freemium market place.

In typical Homer action he is distracted during his shift while playing on his MyPad with disastrous consequences in that he destroys Springfield, leaving you and Homer to bring it back to it’s former glories.

For those of you familiar with the show you won’t be disappointed as all your favorite characters and locations are there and it’s been written with the same irreverent humor as the TV show itself. In fact it also pokes fun at itself and the freemium model of gameplay which is nice to see.

For those who have played these types of games before there isn’t too much new here but it’s clearly grabbing a lot of peoples attention as over the first few days of its launch it’s be hit by various connectivity issues which has prevented the game from being played at times.

I’m sure these issues will be addressed however and everyone will be back helping Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie to rebuild Springfield. This is done via the usually variety of tasks which can all be completed without handing over a dime. However, should you want to speed things up a little you can purchase additional donuts via in-app purchases.

Now I have nothing against the freemium model, I’ve been addicted to Tiny Tower in my time and as long as the balance is set correctly it can work well. However, while the in-app purchases start at $1.99, $4.99 and $9.99 the top price is $99.99 for 2400 donuts and while I’ll all not impinging on other players freedom, surely nobody should be allowed to spend $100 on an in-app purcahse!

If you are a fan of the Simpons and this type of game in general then you should certainly give Simpsons – Tapped Out a look as it has everything a game like this should have. However, just don’t buy 2400 donuts however much you think Homer would like them!

The Simpsons – Tapped Out is available in the App Store now for free.

This is ridiculous. Why build an app featuring one of the most popular sets of characters in history, on an already popular platform, in the style of a hugely popular game if you don;t have the servers to handle it? I call bullshit, the same thing happened with The Sims free to play, I can’t imagine a company the size of EA has trouble finding server capacity, so there must be an ulterior motive…either way, this and many other foul ups with online gaming are making EA look stupid.

I have it on iPad. It is great. If you sign in with EA games origin you can visit the neighboring Springfield and always sign in to your game with no data lost.

This game sucks. I’ve had it for 3 days, gotten in once a day, and it starts over each time. They have now taken it off of the app store because it sucks so bad. Highly disappointing.

    stay away from this game.
It charges you  real money, demands internett access.
And 99% of all times you try to connect, you will be kept out due to server difficulties.
    STAY AWAY FORM THIS GAME

it gives u a choose If u want to spend real money, use it only on wifi.I’d say it’s been taken off market as its causing so many problems that it will go back up when server problem is fixed . It’s probably just so popular that the server failed or is not big enoughf for dime and, wait few days and it may be fixed .
It is frustrating but what can u do .

What to do? Just not to play it, from the two seconds I looked at it it seems to be some FarmVille, give me your money if you want to speed it up style game, which in addition seems to be crappy to control.
It looks that its not worth any money and most of all not not any time!

Especially if you are a Simpsons fan, stay away.
