Photos of iPhone 5 Battery Appear Online As Release Date Nears
Apple is widely expected to announce the release date for iPhone 5 during a special media event rumored to be held on October 4th. As the announcement date draws near photos of new iPhone 5 parts are appearing online.
Mac Rumors earlier this week published photos of iPhone 5 battery parts which were sourced from UK repair shop iPatchiPods. While there is no way to confirm if these photos are legit, the UK based repair shop had received the part images from someone who has in the past provided legitimate Apple parts ahead of official launches.
The photo is clearly labeled as “DVT_B3” which suggests that it was taken around “development prototype stage”.
The progression of Apple’s product development goes through several distinct phases. Following the development phases, products go into EVT (Engineering Verification Testing) and then DVT (Device Verification Testing) stages before they reach the production stage.
The new battery in fifth-gen iPhone is expected to give the same power as the iPhone 4 battery. Apple’s iPhone 5 according to various reports will include dual-core A5 chip, 8 megapixel camera, more RAM and a radical design.
It’s interesting to note that some analysts believe that instead of a major redesign the Cupertino, California-based company could be looking at introducing iPhone 4S with minor design changes and only upgrade the the processor and camera.
