Monster Truck Rally Rating:
There are several off-road terrains to race on Desert, Snowy Mountains, Canyon and Jungle, each different terrain also features different background environments. The snowy mountain terrain for example shows mountains in the background and all look quite realistic.
There are three modes to play, Practice, Career and Multiplayer. I would recommend trying the practice mode first just to get a hang of the controls. The controls are straight forward press the left side to brake, right to accelerate and tilt your device to steer. It is quite awkward to steer though, the truck is hard to keep on the track and if you do happen to steer off course I found it quite hard to get back in the race. If you don’t go fast and brake alot it is fine but once you have a bit of speed behind you that is when it loses control easily.
There are 5 tracks to race on and 5 monster trucks to choose from. Each truck offers different capabilities, the three features brakes, power and grip. The tracks and monster trucks are not all available though straight away, they get unlocked further along in the game depending on what you earn in your races.
The 3D graphics are stunning and offers high quality gameplay. It also as all the right sound effects with brakes screeching and the trucks engine sounds.
I did try the multiplayer option but didn’t get the chance to race with anyone as there was no one else online at the time. It would probably change if more people start playing the game though.
Monster Truck Rally is certainly worth checking out for anyone who loves racing games but I felt the difficulty level and game controls need to be tweaked further. If that was sorted it would greatly improve the game.
- Realistic graphics
The Not So Good
- Easy to come off tracks and get stuck
- Scenes are quite bare
