iPhone developers updating their apps, now iOS 4 ready

During WWDC 2010 Steve Jobs announced the availability of the GM candidate of iOS 4 for iPhone developers and they have been busy testing and optimizing their apps for the latest version of iPhone and iPod touch software.

iOS 4 will bring Multitasking which has been one of the most anticipated features for the iPhone and iPod touch. Apple is implementing Multitasking support by providing new APIs to developers which include:

  • Background audio
  • Voice over IP
  • Background location
  • Push Notifications
  • Local Notifications
  • Task Completion
  • Fast App Switching

PixelGlow recently sent us an update regarding their popular diagramming app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad which incorporates Graphviz called Instaviz.

The latest version (V1.9) of Instaviz will support multitasking and takes advantage of the new retina display in iPhone 4.

Instaviz 1.9 Update:

  • Supports iPhone 4: retina display.
  • Supports iOS 4.0: multitasking.
  • Video output to external displays.
  • Batch copying of graphs.
  • Preview and open graphs from other apps e.g Mail.
  • Faster display and scrolling.

iOS 4 will be available as a free update on June 21 (Monday).
