As the release date for the new iPhone 5S nears new details about the upcoming launch continue to be revealed in the blogosphere. Apple’s next-gen iPhone is widely rumored to add a new fingerprint sensor technology to the smartphone.

iPhone components have been leaked and photos of the parts have been published on the web many times. Earlier photos of the home button flex cable did not hint towards the addition of a new sensor however, now a new photo [Google Translate] has emerged which seems to confirm the new functionality.

Apple is known to test new features secretively, it is believed that the company used an external fingerprint sensor for testing purpose instead of incorporating the sensor internally. This could explain why the earlier leaks of the cables did not show the sensor. As iPhone 5S release date is around the corner and with mass production of the new device in full force the actual home button flex could have been leaked.

The photo shows an additional attachment to the home button and when it is compared with iPhone 5 is becomes clear that this could indeed be the new fingerprint sensor.

iPhone 5S will carry the same design as the iPhone 5 but will boast significant improvements over its predecessor. All-new A7 chip is expected to provide the new iPhone with 31% faster performance. With dual-led flash support low light photos on the new iPhone 5S could prove to be a very useful feature.

iPhone media event is scheduled for September 10th where Apple is widely expected to announce iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks related updates and launches.

Are you excited about swiping the home button to unlock the new iPhone 5S? Do you think adding a fingerprint sensor alone could be enough to upgrade from an iPhone 5 to 5S? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
