Apple is widely expected to unveil iPhone 5 during September event alongside iOS 5 official release. The rumor mill has been busy discussing possible new features and hardware changes. Reports about next generation iPhone featuring a larger 4-inch screen have been making the rounds recently and a new case design has revived the discussion regarding the large screen.
Since the introduction of the original iPhone in 2007 Apple hasn’t changed the screen size of the iconic product. According to the various rumors the company could simply make the touch panel edge-to-edge while still retaining the overall form factor.
MobileFun.co.uk has published CAD mockups of two case designs and claims that iPhone 5 will feature an all-new design with larger screen, curved back and larger home button. Their report is inline with ThisIsMyNext’s coverage on iPhone 5 design as both publications expect next iPhone to have a larger screen size.
It is believed that case designers often get the blueprint of Apple’s next hardware in advance so that they can manufacture the accessories in advance and such leaks have been accurate in the past. It’s also interesting to note that sometimes accessory manufacturers just design the cases based on the information available online. So, they can benefit from being one of the first ones to have accessories for the next gen device available in the market.
