After a number of iPhone 4S users complained about battery life issues, affecting the performance of the phone, Apple seeded iOS 5.0.1 beta to developers to address the issue. On Thursday, Apple released iOS 5.0.1 to all users to address battery life concerns as well as a number of other bug fixes.

Appleā€™s latest software update brings not only a solution of battery life issues, but multitasking gestures to the original iPad, as well as voice recognition improvements for Australian users.

This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

– Fixes bugs affecting battery life
– Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
– Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
– Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation

The build number for the latest iOS 5.0.1 release is 9A405, one build higher than the beta 2 version previously available to developers. iOS 5.0.1 is available for iPhone (4S, 4, and 3GS), iPod touch (third- and fourth-generation) and all iPad models. The update is now available in iTunes as well as an Over The Air update for all of the devices in Settings menu.

The delta update available for iOS devices is just 46.8 MB (for iPad) and 5.0.1 release is the first Over The Air update issued by Apple since the public release of software version 5.0.

    I have an iPhone 4.  Since upgrading to 5.0.1, my battery drains even worst.  I wish I never would have upgraded to 5.0.   Only did it because my company built an iphone app and they want to make sure it worked with 5.0.

    I am an Iphone 4 owner.I have upgraded to 5.0.1 for approx 10 hours, but unfortunately I have not noticed any battery improvements.Still while browsing or using the Apps I can see tthe battery percentage dropping.
