Recently we saw the release of iOS 4.3 beta 2 – just one week after beta 1 was released into the wild. That could be telling in itself with Apple usually preferring to bring new betas to developers every fortnight. Was there something they needed to fix or are we in for a truncated testing period? Time will tell. So, on with the details.
So, what’s new? It feels snappier buy thus far I’ve not found any tangible differences between the original beta and this one. Under the hood changes perhaps?
Maybe the most interesting change is the addition of a paragraph to the release notes explaining that the fancy iPad gestures we were so excited about aren’t necessarily going to be in the final release:
This beta release contains a preview of new multitasking gestures for iPad. You can use four or five fingers to pinch to the Home Screen, swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar, and swipe left or right between apps. This feature will not be enabled in iOS 4.3 for customers, but we are providing this preview to gather input on how these gestures work with your apps.
That’ll be a flagship feature on iOS 5.0 then.
