Into The Blue SD [rating: 4/5]

Defend your base from enemy ships and harvest your crystals with the challenging game Into The Blue by 2drockers. The controls are similar to Flight Control and your objective is to defend your ships from your attackers.

You control the blue transporters. Your enemy are the pink ships firing at you! When you first start the game you will just be guiding your ship to your base. You do this simply by drawing a line from the ship to the base, then the ship will follow the line. Make sure you do it exactly at the base though otherwise it will not stop it will just carry on past.

Whilst the transporter is making its way to base the enemy ships will appear on screen and start shooting at it. To defend your ships you need to fire back. To do so you can use either the touch and aim control or control a crosshair. I used the crosshair whilst playing. All you do is aim it at the enemy and it will fire for you from near your base. Think of it a bit like the old space invaders game except they are coming at you from every direction.

As you progress through the levels you will be given different tasks to do. You will be asked to collect crystals and harvest them back to base. To get through the mission and to the next one you will be made to collect a set amount first. All whilst being attacked by the enemy.

Each mission becomes harder but you can also choose the difficulty level from easy, normal and hard depending on your skill. There are eight missions to play through. It can at times feel to play a bit slow. On occasions I was just waiting for enemy ships to appear so I could shoot and do something whilst my ship collected crystals. Then suddenly it would get busy and ships would appear all at once.

The graphics and animations are quite colorful and the sound effects were good. The game does become quite addictive. When you almost complete a mission but then fail you want to quickly try again. The mixture of a line drawing game and then the shoot ‘em up style goes really well together and thats what I liked about it. It made the game feel different and unique too.

Pros

  • Good addictive game.
  • Good graphics and sound effects.
  • Great quick pick up and play game.

Cons

  • Can be slow moving at times.
