iMovie for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch (Hack)

The guys over at Redmond Pie have found that it is relatively trivial to hack iMovie for iPhone to run on any iDevice capable of running iOS 4. They even suggest that it may well be possible to run iMovie on earlier iPhone OS revisions also.

Steve Jobs has been very clear up until now that earlier Apple mobile devices would find iMovie far too resource intensive to run efficiently.

When he claimed that earlier iPhones could not multitask we all called him on it. But the iMovie claim was much easier to swallow. After having seen the video of iMovie running on an iPhone 3GS I am a little peeved at how disingenuous Apple have been.

iMovie for iPhone runs just fine on the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch. You need to jailbreak your device of course. But once that is done it is a relatively trivial task to get iMovie for iPhone to run.

Some export options for 720p obviously do not work. But other than that it works just fine. And its pretty zippy!

Would you like to put iMovie for iPhone on your 3GS or iPod Touch? If you do, let us know how it goes in the comments.
