If you were thinking of getting hold of a MagSafe compatible external battery pack for your Macintosh laptop and/or iPhone or iPod, then now is the time to do so.

HyperMac had this to say on their website on Monday :

If you wish to get the world’s ONLY external battery and car charger solution that works with ALL MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro (supports dual voltage) as well as the iPad, iPhone 3/3GS/4, iPod and all other USB devices, NOW is the time. On November 2, 2010 00:00 U.S. Pacific Time, they will gone for good.

Apple sued the peripheral maker in September alleging Patent violation related to various connector designs particularly the MagSafe auto-disconnecting power plug. In ongoing negotiations with Apple to try and strike some kind of deal HyperMac have agreed to cease selling MagSafe-related products as of the 2nd of November.

It is anybodies guess if they will ever surface again in the future. Whilst this doesn’t seem to directly impact the sale of batteries, or the iPod charging connector which is not “MagSafe”, if you want the full monty you have until the 2nd of November.

Is Apple right to defend its Patent in this case? Or are they being a bully, considering they stole the idea from kettle manufacturers in Asia? Have your say in the comments.
