UPDATE: Limera1n jailbreak released. Greenpois0n delayed?
If you’re been holding off updating to iOS 4.1 until a jailbreak was available, you won’t be waiting long – Greenpois0n is slated for release on Sunday, 10/10/10 at, 10:10!
Dev-Team member Joshua Hill tweeted recently, saying that all is going well and everyone should be able to jailbreak Apple’s latest iOS this weekend. Good news indeed for everyone still craving that Cydia goodness.
For those wondering about the legitimacy of this info, fear not. The guy behind Greenpois0n in the first place, Pod2g also retweeted Hill’s message which we’re fairly sure he wouldn’t do if it wasn’t accurate.
Greenpois0n is based on the SHAtter exploit and is aimed at the latest iDevices such as iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and iPad. Older hardware like the iPhone 3GS will not be supported in this exploit.
Those reading between the lines: Yes SHAtter itself is tethered. @comex came up with a way to untether it on 4.1/3.2.2
SHAtter is yet another breed of exploit. Bootrom-based but requires userland “assistance” for untethered boots (@comex did this for 4.1)
