Gangster: West Coast Hustle Rating:
“Only thing that’s on my mind Is who’s gonna run this town tonight”. Jay Z’s lyrics ask the very same question you will find yourself asking as you immerse yourself in L.A. gang life with Gangster. The most realistic surroundings yet to be seen in an iPhone/touch game combined with mind-boggling graphics create a one of a kind game play experience.
Gangstar has a similar feeling to Grand Theft Auto as the player drives for miles in an open environment attempting to complete 50 different missions. Intense graphics and full 3D modernization of an entire city with details that are meticulous make this game one of a kind. I was amazed at the detail of buildings, landscapes, impressive cars etc.
The game starts with a major bank heist following a high speed chase. After evading cops, the actual game play begins with P. Thug and Juanito seeking help from L.C, the friendly neighborhood gangster. Similar to Grand Theft Auto, the objective is to complete various missions from gangsters that consist of shooting people, high jacking cars, driving, shooting hookers, following people and most importantly making chief deliveries. As the player piles up felonies, the wanted meter increases. Have no fear, collect one of many badges around town and your wanted meter will decrease. Crash your car? No problem. Visit a car repair shop where they will restore your wheels to like new condition.
Instinctive game play thanks to the touch controls. The player uses the touch controls to drive a variety of vehicles, aim at targets and shoot enemies. You can choose your favorite radio station while riding in style or listen to your own music stored in your iPod music library.
Overall this game is unbelievable with the first 3D environment enabling the player to wreak havoc and turn a city upside down. For those who enjoy Grand Theft Auto this game is a necessity. For those who do not enjoy Grand Theft Auto, this game is also a necessity. It’s truly a game to be reckoned with.
- Unbelievable graphics; first 3D environment
- Intuitive gameplay
- Ability to play your own tunes
The Not So Good
- Can’t replay characters
- Adding shops to purchase clothes and different vehicles would be nice ie. Motorcycles etc.
