Facebook 3.1.1 For iPhone Adds Push Notification and Address Book Sync.

iphone_facebook

Version 3.0 of facebook for iPhone was one of the highly anticipated update for the most popular social networking app in the App Store. It was considered a major update as the new version included more than 15 features (Events, Notes, Pages, ‘new’ News Feed etc.) and made the app more useful and stable however, Facebook did not include push notification in this update.

The latest version (3.1.1) of Facebook for iPhone adds Push Notification and Address Book Syncing capabilities. The app also allows you to choose the type of notification you want to receive by accessing the ‘General Settings’ of your iPhone/iPod touch. You can turn on/off notifications for Messages, Wall Posts, Friend Requests, Friend Confirmations, Photo Tags, Events and Comments.

You must be logged into your Facebook account using the iPhone app &
then even if you close the app you will continue to receive
    notifications.

If you sign out of your account on the app then you will not receive
    any notifications.

If someone writes on your wall, tags a photo or comments, sends a message or
you receive a friend request you will receive the notification via push.

Status updates are a part a of News feed which won't be pushed but, if
someone comments on your status it should be pushed.

You might want to either edit your email notifications in your facebook
account or turn off the push notification for a few services.

It is entirely your choice, whether you prefer email or push notification.

    Hope this helps.

What exactly is pushed? I know they have listed, comments, photo tags etc but what exactly…?

ALL comments? like status, wall post comments, tagged status comments, photo comments?

ALL photo tags? tags of your own photos (even ones your not in), tags of only photos your in, someone tagging your photo?

Just so I know what email notifications to turn off, because if they will get pushed I’ll end up getting loads of duplicates.

I want to know which notifications to disable via the web facebook, as in the actual full site. if you go to settings then click notifications, they have so many options in more detail, and I wanted to know which ones to un tick on there so I don’t get notifications via the app AND notifications through my e-mails too.
