EA Mobile’s Mirror’s Edge for iPad to cost $14.99

Update: EA Mobile has reduced the price to $12.99

In December last year we reported details about EA Mobile’s upcoming game for iPhone called Mirror’s Edge which was scheduled for launch in January 2010. The game however ran into unexpected delays and is still not available for the iPhone.

There have been various rumors about  Apple giving select developers early access to the iPad for development purpose and the iPad App Store adopting premium price model. The apps and games that will be available for the iPad on the ‘grand opening’ are now appearing in the iTunes store and if you search for ‘Mirror’s Edge’ you’ll find EA Mobile’s ‘Mirror’s Edge for iPad’

Mirror’s Edge Backstory

In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed and now you are being hunted. You are a Runner called Faith – and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story.

Mirror’s Edge™ delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith’s world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous. Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city, you will learn how to run.

The rumors we reported earlier now make complete sense and it can be believed that EA Mobile might have intentionally delayed the iPhone version to work on the iPad version. The game is priced at $14.99 (iTunes Store Preview) and this is certainly one of the most expensive games in the App Store. The game description is not very different from what we reported back in December except for multiplayer features made just for the iPad.

EA Mobile has proved to be one of the most successful game publishers for the iPhone platform and it will be interesting to see if other iPad game developers and publishers will charge a premium for their games.

Will you be buying Mirror’s Edge for iPad? Do you approve ‘premium price’ model for iPad games?
