Hot on the heals of the announcement that the iPhone 4 is (finally) landing in a Verizon store near you, reports are now circulating that the iPad could be the next Apple device to get the CDMA treatment.

According to Bloomberg:

Verizon will get an embedded chip in the iPad for use on its network, Francis Shammo, chief financial officer of Verizon Communications Inc., the parent of the wireless unit, said today in an interview in New York.

CDMA iDevices really are like London buses – you wait ages for one and two come along at once!

Of course with all this CDMA love being thrown around you do have to ask the obvious question. Just how well will Verizon’s network cope when a few million iPhone users start shifting data around like there’s no tomorrow?

Will AT&T be vindicated?
