‘Burn The Rope HD’ Review for iPad
Burn The Rope HD is a puzzle game where you tap the rope and it ignites a flame. The trick with this is that the flame only burns upwards so you must use your finger to drag the rope to keep the flame going up or move your device. The approach is simple but the complex rope structures make it pretty difficult. You goal is to reach 100% on each level. Of course the difficulty is what makes this game fun, you will have to be creative to find ways to get the entire rope burned.
The controls in Burn The Rope HD for iPad are fairly simple. Like on the iPhone, you can use the gyroscope to move the device to adjust how the rope burns or you can use the feature that is for the iPad version that allows you to use your finger to change the angle of the rope. I prefer the second option but it is nice that it allows for you to utilize both methods.
The scoring system is based on the percentage of the level you are able to complete. Most of the percentage is based on how much of the rope you are able to burn. As you go further and further into the game the rope continues to play a large role in percentage but burning certain bugs and things of this nature begin playing a larger role as you progress.
This game also has bugs. No not bugs as in problems but bugs that are crawling along the ropes that you will be burning that cause different things to happen. Some bugs aid in the burning process and others can prevent you from going any further in the level. Certain ropes in the game have to be burned with a matching color flame thus meaning you have to find a bug of the same color to burn the like colored rope. Certain bugs such as the Firebug, if burned, cause an explosion that burns all the rope in a given area. Some bugs have to be burned with the same color flame or you will not receive the percentage points for them. The electric bug and its matching partner will start a new flame as well. There are plenty more bugs that have other actions that affect the way you play the game.
The concept of this game is very simple but the gameplay is anything but. Many variables lead to an addictive gameplay that at times will have you on the edge of your seat. This game is anything but simple but I have gotten addicted to it quickly. Visually, the game is pretty stunning on the iPad. With 112 levels and more on the way, this game keeps you coming back. The game is very fun and a solid purchase for your iPad.
