Match 3 games are very popular in the App Store and the latest to be added to the mix is Blicks. Each new version of a match 3 game attempts to add something new and Blicks is no different as it adds a physics element to the game.
The basis of the game is just as you would expect, the screen starts with a variety of colored blicks at the top of the screen and your task is to launch new blicks to touch the others. When three or more matching blicks touch each other they will be cleared from the screen.
Where other similar games use a straight launch style to target the pieces trajectory Blicks float up the screen as you drag them across the bottom of the screen before letting them drift upwards into there final resting place.
This adds an element of luck into the mix as well as an extra challenge as any slight over movement in the launch of the blick will send it in a completely different direction than you may have wanted.
As the game progresses more blicks will be randomly added to the playing area so if you aren’t quick at clearing them the playing area will soon fill up to the limit and it will be game over. You do get a three second warning to clear the offending pieces before it’s game over but by that point it’s usually a foregone conclusion.
Over all Blicks is one dimensional and while at only 99 cents it’s not going to break the bank this new match three game is probably going to be for match 3 addicts only!
- Match 3 with a twist
- OpenFeint integration
- One dimensional
