In a report from Cydiblog, a new video from part supply website, eTradeSupply was released and reveals what is expected to be the back cover of the next generation iPhone 5. The “uni-body” cover is made from some form of brushed steel, sports a longer body, a smaller dock port, has a headphone jack on the bottom and is thinner than the current iPhone 4S. The back cover also points to a smaller SIM card slot.
In the video, the narrator compares the back cover of the iPhone 5 to a current iPhone 4S and points out the differences between the two, however, other components such as weight are hard to compare, especially with no screen, battery or internal components inside the cover. The iPhone 5 cover also has two black stripes, one on top and one on the bottom, a different color from the metal back and if the part turns out to be genuine, then would likely serve as some form of antenna for the iPhone.
The next generation iPhone is expected to be released in the same October timeframe as the iPhone 4S last year and will likely include a smaller dock connector, a taller screen, and better FaceTime and rear cameras. The iPhone 5 will also include iOS 6 which is expected for announcement at Apple’s WWDC conference on June 11th.
