On Monday, Apple seeded the iOS 5.1 Beta and Xcode 4.3 to developers. iOS 5.1 is expected to fix known bugs in the current version of iOS 5. At this point, it is unclear whether the latest software release will fix the battery issues plaguing many iPhone 4S users.

Many users have reported that they have experienced severe battery drain during normal usage after upgrading to iOS 5, and Apple has been working on releasing a software update to fix the issues. With 5.1 already seeded to developers, it is very likely that it will include the fix for the battery issues as well as other issues, including better Siri performance.

Siri is expected to be getting maintenance and bug fixes in upcoming software updates, and with Apple jumping straight to 5.1 from iOS 5.0.1, it may address any and all issues and improvements.

iOS SDK 5.1 provides support for developing iOS applications and includes the complete set of Xcode tools, compilers, and frameworks for creating applications for iOS and Mac OS X. These tools include the Xcode IDE and the Instruments analysis tool among many others.

With this software you can develop applications that run on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 5.1. You can also test your applications using the included iOS Simulator, which supports iOS 5.1. There are two Xcode iOS SDK 5.1 images, one for installing on a Macintosh computer running Mac OS X 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard) or later, the other for installing on a Macintosh computer running Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).

Developers can now test their applications on iOS 5.1 and work out any bugs associated with the release by using iOS SDK 5.1. It is unclear when Apple is looking to publicly release iOS 5.1, but it shouldn’t be in more a few weeks, as prolonging battery issues can affect them negatively.

Apple is expected to release iOS 5.1 for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad and third and fourth-generation iPod touch devices soon.
