Guessing by the number of people who turned out at Apple retail stores to buy the iPad 2; the launch day was certainly a success for Apple. Analysts have been talking about their expected sales figures which could be anywhere between 500,000 to 1,000,000 during the launch weekend.
We also heard reports about stock in the retail stores running low and many people who lined up for hours had to unfortunately return home without Apple’s highly anticipated second gen tablet computer.
It wasn’t easy even for those who ordered the iPad 2 online as the estimated shipping time has now moved up to 3-4 weeks. During the special media event Steve Jobs said that iPad 2 will be the first dual core tablet to ship in volume and while official launch weekend sale figures have not been disclosed; the demand has been ‘amazing’ according to Apple’s spokesperson.
Now, AppleBitch reports that some retail stores in the U.S will open early on Tuesday around 9:00 a.m local time with fresh stock.
We recently reported that according to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster Apple’s iPad 2 was 100 percent sold out before the weekend was out. And if the demand continues to rise at this rate then it could impact the international launch which is scheduled for March 25th.
