Earlier today, MacGeneration reported that Apple is planning to hold a private celebration for former CEO and Chairman Steve Jobs, who passed away just last week after he lost a long battle with pancreatic cancer. CEO Tim Cook sent an internal email to Apple employees of the Cupertino Campus in order to plan a remembrance and celebration event for Steve Jobs, set for October 19th.

Team,

Like many of you, I have experienced the saddest days of my lifetime and shed many tears during the past week. But I’ve found some comfort in the extraordinary number of tributes and condolences from people all over the world who were touched by Steve and his genius. And I’ve found comfort in both telling and listening to stories about Steve.

Although many of our hearts are still heavy, we are planning a celebration of his life for Apple employees to take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place. The celebration will be held on Wednesday, October 19, at 10am in the outdoor amphitheater on the Infinite Loop campus. We’ll have more details on AppleWeb closer to the date, including arrangements for employees outside of Cupertino.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Tim

Soon after Jobs’ death, Tim Cook sent out an email, addressing the public and letting them know of a private event in the works. A small funeral was held on Friday, where the public was not allowed to attend. There are currently no public events in order to remember Steve Jobs, however, the over 300 Apple Retail Stores have become memorial sites for the late Mr. Jobs.

Apple Stores, including the Upper West Side Store in NYC (pictured above) are covered with photos, newspapers, apples, and personal notes in remembrance of Steve Jobs and his legacy.
