Apple’s iOS reaches all-time best, Android still far behind in web share

iOS Android Web Share

The guys over at Net Applications recently released some interesting information about various operating systems, both mobile and desktop, and how they compare to each other with regards to web share. Apple’s iOS platform, with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices combined, rose to 1.18% of all web usage. When you consider mobile browsing in total reached an all-time high of 2.8% that’s impressive stuff.

Why did Apple’s iOS see its highest score to date? The smart money is on the release of the iPad and iPhone 4’s continued high demand drawing in new users to mobile web browsing.

As for the competition, Android handsets accounted for just 0.24% of web use – turns out having more handsets than apps doesn’t automatically get you great results! is it possible Android users use their phones differently?  Maybe they are just too busy scanning QR codes!

The report also measures desktop usage and it’s not great reading for Microsoft. Internet Explorer, the Redmond company’s own internet browser, saw its share fall to 59.65% – still nothing to sniff at. Windows in general also suffered a loss, with a result of 91%. Still remarkably high.

Just another apple fanboy trying to justify an inferior platform. Everyone knows that every category will be in androids favor soon. Just like a liberal political media spinner, they find some irrelevant statistic and report it to make it look important.

Comparing iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to Android? I thought we were comparing cellphones, or at least one platform to another. This article takes three platforms and compares them to one and then shoves it in your face as if it were something that mattered. You throw iPad in there, and of course there will be a huge difference. The only thing to do on an iPad is browse.

This article is biased, and so are the results from Net Applications. It’s sad, really… I’m sure that the Apple fan boys will preen and purr, and then lick each other clean.

I own neither an apple device, nor one with Android running on it, and I’m biased but at least I let you all know about it. I think I’m gonna go take an iShit and wipe with a printout of this article.

How can this be? Isn’t the Android destroying all things iOS? I mean, there are no developers targeting iOS if you believe what the press writes with all the action going on in the Android world. How can this be????

Odd the iPad has already surpassed the Android’s web traffic.

Ah, the openmouthputinfoot person. How is your religion treating you? Does it trouble you to have it shattered on a continuous basis?

The irony of your post is as hilarious as it is sad. Fanboi following the cult of Jobs talking about religion (who the hell knows which religion you’re talking about) to someone else. As for something be shattered, I’m at a further loss. I do love how you have to result to weak ad hominem because you couldn’t support your lame ass points previously. Big surprise that you did it again.isheepsezwut?

The sad part is, I shattered every point you made and you could only come up with mindless retorts of meaningless jabber on every point I made. Your religious views of computing, not based on any financial or rational views, I find most humorous.

Like sheep to the slaughter, the Android faithful are led. Have fun being a demographic and a product.

The irony is killing me here, and you didn’t “shatter” anything, you ignored the points, just like you did here. LOL. Sucks to be you getting beat back by “mindless retorts.” Ouch.

Amazingly, you made not points. Unless you consider insulting people points. You are a funny many that should change your moniker suckstobeme.

You still are strange enough to think that if you loose $10/unit, you can make it up on volume. Perfect case of. BTW: Did you notice the volume of iOS devices for the quarter was 256,000 per day (I had it between 230,00-300,000 and you thought I was smoking crack)? Didn’t think so.

I made not points? I do believe I made a point, but you decided to ignore it and talk about your devotion to your religion, the Cult of Jobs.

My point was simple which you ignored, you hypocrite. Here let me quote it for you, “web-traffic != subscriptions.” Meaning, that web-traffic has little to do with how many devices are in service.

My next post talked about your weak ad hominem because you couldn’t actually comment on my “point.” Talk about fail.

Did you notice that the volume of Android devices was still greater and there aren’t any Android Mp3 players, and just a few tablets (still a market that is yet to prove viable)??

I don’t know about your drug habits, but you failed to address the point. The new name you chose would probably better for you. I’ll let you keep that one.

Try again Steve, but I’ve made you my bitch on numerous occasions. Fail on little broom stick cowboy.

This is somehow insulting to Android users, scanning QR codes? About the rest of the information: clearly Apple is still dominant, the cool factor is selling and the integration It’s just awesome, however I’m a little disappointed that the htc desire browser is faster than my safari’s iPhone 4 but the apps from iPhone are still better than similar ones in Android, looking forward for Google navigation on iPhone!.
