Apple’s India Website Calls Its Latest Release ‘iPhone 4G’

UPDATE: Apple has fixed the error and now the online store correctly mentions the smartphone as “iPhone 4″ not “iPhone 4G”.

Earlier today we reported that Apple has finally launched iPhone 4 in India with Airtel and Aircel as its telecom partners but Apple’s official website seems to have changed the name of the fourth gen device.

Apple (India) really needs to pay more attention to their website. Just before the iPad 2 launch we reported that some parts of the Indian website had poor layout and now iPhone 4 is listed as “iPhone 4G”.

We are not sure if Apple Inc. directly handles the website content for all the different locations from its headquarters in Cupertino or if each country has its own local person in-charge. If you visit Apple.com/in/iphone right now you’ll notice that the product page still mentions “Notify Me” at the top right and if you click, it will simply reload the same page.

Typically, once the store catalogue has been updated the ‘notify me’ option should change to ‘Buy Now’ which should lead you to the online store.

iPhone 4 is now available with Airtel and Aircel and the phone is priced at Rs. 34,500 ($760) for 16GB model and Rs. 40,900 ($900) for 32GB model. The carriers are offering ‘reverse subsidy’ to subscribers if they opt in for 24 months commitment tariff plans by giving around 50% discount on fixed monthly charges.
