On Monday, in a press release, Apple Inc. (AAPL) announced that their SVP of iOS Software, Scott Forstall as well as their fairly new retail chief John Browett will be leaving the company. Although Scott Forstall will be remaining at AAPL as an advisor to CEO Tim Cook until 2013, John Browett will be leaving the Cupertino company immediately. Following the announcement of the departures of two key people in Apple’s operations, the company also noted that other executives at the company will be taking on increased roles.

Apple also announced that Scott Forstall will be leaving Apple next year and will serve as an advisor to CEO Tim Cook in the interim

These roles include other key people at Apple, including Jony Ive, Bob Mansfield, Eddy Cue, and Craig Federighi. SVP of Industrial design, Jony Ive will take over the Human Interface team, and will do that in addition to his work with industrial design. Eddy Cue will take over operations for Siri and Maps, in addition to his newly appointed role at Apple, working as VP for Internet Software and Services.

Other changes include Bob Mansfield who was expected to retired but later retracted his decision to take over the group that will lead innovation in wireless technology and semiconductors as well as Craig Federighi who will now run both the iOS and OS X teams. Federighi will work with Cue on iOS Maps and Siri, in order to make sure the two operate together seamlessly. Forstall, who is remaining until next year was once considered a candidate possible of taking over the company as CEO but has since come under fire for issues with both Siri connectivity as well as numerous development and usage issues with the new iOS 6 Maps, which essentially gives iOS 6 a broken appearance.

Additionally, John Browett is leaving Apple. A search for a new head of Retail is underway and in the interim, the Retail team will report directly to Tim Cook. Apple’s Retail organization has an incredibly strong network of leaders at the store and regional level who will continue the excellent work that has been done over the past decade to revolutionize retailing with unique, innovative services for customers.

John Browett, who took over after former Retail head Ron Johnson left for CEO position at retailer JC Penney will be leaving within several weeks time. At the moment, the retail team will report directly to Tim Cook for day to day operations. These two changes in Apple’s executive lineup will cause major changes for the company in the long run, which has until recently been run very similarly to how it was under former CEO and Chairman Steve Jobs.
