Apple’s App Store Is Now on Twitter, Promises Exclusive Offers

If you didn’t already have enough tweets filling up your Twitter feed, here’s a new twitter we think you may be interested in following: Apple’s App Store now has an official Twitter account, and in its bio it promises to provide details on featured apps, exclusive offers, and more.

The @AppStore account currently has around 23,000 followers (at the time of writing), but every time I refresh Safari, that number keeps increasing. The account is only following 5 other users however, and those are the 5 Twitter accounts dedicated to iTunes trailers, podcasts, TV, movies, and music.
The first tweet from the @AppStore account was posted around two hours ago:

Welcome to App Store on Twitter! Follow us to discover new apps, get exclusive offers, and share with friends. #appstore

The second tweet, posted around an hour ago, advertises the new Nike Training application for the iPhone, and includes a link to the application in the App Store with a new “appstore.com” web address for short URL links.

Although Twitter have declined to comment on the validity of the App Store account due to confidentiality, there’s plenty of proof that it’s genuine. Not only is the new “appstore.com” web address owned by Apple, but both the iTunes TV and music accounts – which are both verified Twitter accounts – have retweeted the App Store’s first tweet.
