Hey look, Kevin Rose just started a new podcast and paid email newsletter and now claims to have info on the next generation iPad. /cynic mode off.
So here’s the story; Rose, founder of social bookmarking site Digg.com claims to have information regarding the upcoming announcement of Apple’s iPad 2.
Alarm bells started ringing for me at the mention of a Retina Display. Back in November we shared that such a high DPI screen could be prohibitive at the iPad’s screen-size. With that in mind it’s perhaps no great surprise that Rose later added:
UPDATE: Spoke w/another source, the display has a “higher dpi”, but not technically a retina display. This seems odd to me, we’ll have to wait and see.
So there we have it. If the tech investor, podcaster and internet celeb is to be believed we should be seeing the iPad 2 fairly soon. Rose’s track record is fairly good, with him predicting last year’s iPod line-up accurately, though he’s also been wide of the mark in the past too.
Could the whole thing be about getting hits and increasing awareness of his latest podcasting venture? Surely not?
