‘Above Insanely Addictive’ iPhone, iPod Touch Game. Review
Above Insanely Addictive Rating:
Above developed by Axolotgames is an addictive climbing game.Your mission is to see how high you can climb the many platforms heading up towards the sky.
The app store is becoming popular with games like Doodle Jump that are aimed at seeing how far you can climb up to the top of your screen on to different platforms and Above is just one of them. It is an highly addictive run and jump game.
Long platforms appear on your screen that you have to jump on to get to the top. When you jump up on one another appears and so on. The controls are very simple and all you need do is press the screen when you want to jump. If you want to do a higher jump you hold your finger for slightly longer and you jump higher. It is not as easy as it sounds though. It is all about timing, you guide the man by jumping but he is constantly moving from left to right. He goes one way and when he hits the screen edge he turns the other way just to spice the game up a bit. Also the higher you get the platforms also get further apart and start to move from left to right. Lots of things to try and stop you getting any higher.
To help you along, the platforms are all different as well. There are the normal jumping ones but then you have a super jump platform, ultra jump and falling platform. If you fall down you lose your life and the game is over and your score is revealed. There are three levels to play Metropolis which is Easy, Tea Farm which is medium and Outer space which is hard.
The graphics are great for such a simple game play. Each level has its own unique background with detailed graphics and fantastic sound effects. You might notice birds on your platform and if you jump on it you surprise them and they fly off. It is attention to detail like this that make this simple game a pleasure to play, the graphics really are great. There is also good upbeat music playing in the background.
All your scores can be submitted to facebook and twitter to share with your friends. There is also a ‘community’ option where you can post your thoughts on the game or share hints and tips with fellows players. A great unique feature.
